Happy Teacher's Day, Nature Educators!
Dive into our rich collection of resources for nature educators.
On this special day, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to the educators who have dedicated themselves to nurturing young minds and fostering a deep connection with the natural world. To honor your dedication, we have curated a list of valuable resources from the nature education space. These resources are designed to enhance your teaching and are tailored to inspire young minds to explore, learn, and appreciate the beauty of birds.
Creativity unleashed
Encourage artistic expression with activities that blend creativity and learning. Explore creative activities by Early Bird such as Join the Dots and How to Sketch a Bird. Read this blog post on ideas for nature journaling with children at every age and visit John Muir Laws' website to begin nature journaling.
Interactive posters
Introduce the world of birds to your students with our interactive posters. These posters, also available in print, are a visual delight that bring the knowledge of birds right into your classroom. Check out more posters on different themes and other resources developed by Nature Classrooms.
Games galore
Learning and fun go hand in hand with our range of exciting games. Try out the Bird Survivor and Bird Bingo games developed by Early Bird, that turn bird education into an adventure. You can also check out the Joy of Learning manual by the Center for Environment Education which brings together art, crafts, and games for children. Also refer to the booklet on biodiversity and sustainability by Wipro Foundation for more games and activities.
Spark imagination with stories
Sharing stories is a wonderful way to help kids connect with birds and nature! You can explore and read stories from the Storyweaver platform, managed by Pratham Books, a free collection of stories on nature. Also take a look at the children's supplement in the Current Conservation magazine for more nature-related stories.
Webinars that ignite curiosity
Dive into the world of birds and nature with our engaging webinars led by experts. From bird identification tips to understanding migration patterns, these interactive sessions offer great insights. Also keep in touch with the nature education community through our Birding Buddies online series.
Nature trails and beyond
Take the classroom outdoors for birdwatching. Use the Handbook for Bird Educators as a guide to organizing bird or nature walks for children. These immersive experiences encourage students to explore, ask questions, and develop a deeper appreciation for nature. You can also register your school on the Nature Vidya website and participate in their environment education programs.
Also meet other educators working to bring children closer to nature on our blog series “Meet an Educator”. We’d love to feature more nature educators and if you know someone doing incredible work, tell us at earlybird@ncf-india.org.
And do take this survey for nature educators as it will help us identify the needs of our target audience and help impact our work!
